Today the journey began for our Canada New England Cruise, with a flight to Quebec City. As we flew into the city we could see beautiful red and gold trees from high above - the reason this cruise is desirable to take in the fall.
A woman was kind enough to change places with me on the flight so I could sit next to Mom. What a full plane! There was a dam conference (think civil engineers and hydrologists and structural integrity experts!) and a Holland America Cruise both starting in Quebec City on Saturday that kept the WestJet flight busy! Quebec City is a nice small airport with only two baggage roundabouts that I saw, and short distances to walk to disembark, pick up luggage then pick up a cab.
This trip I am travelling with my Mom and sister and her husband. Mom and LC’s husband B, have limited mobility so we used wheelchair service whenever available.
Once in Quebec City, we caught a cab to the Hilton - which was not as expensive as the historic Chateau Frontenac. Once assigned to our room we checked in at the Holland America desk. We chose the 11:45 am shuttle to the ship. A real bonus is HAL will pick up our luggage from our room tomorrow morning st 9 am and have it delivered directly to our stateroom on the ship! How gre at is that? No dragging onto the bus finding a porter, going through security etc! For extra security I am putting a zip tie on my luggage so that unauthorized access into my bag will be discouraged!
The view from our room is pretty spectacular! We can see the Quebec legislative buildings directly across the road - but we need some daylight to have the pictures do it justice!
A lovely seafood dinner at the hotel was a wonderful way to cap off the day. We all went to LC and B’s room for a cup of tea and a cookie for dessert!
