I awoke at 4:30 AM today - not because we have an early flight - that doesn't leave the airport until 3:30 PM this afternoon - but because I was excited! You see our plan is to fly to Amsterdam today, which is an 8 hour time zone change. The 9 hour flight means we will arrive in the wee hours of the morning by our body clock's time but it will be 8:25 AM in Amsterdam. We will check into our hotel, drop luggage, then do our best to go out to explore Amsterdam, keep awake and reorient our bodies to the new time zone. I might have heard our fearless leader's words last night, "I want to be tired for the flight"!
J isn't joining me on this trip - but he is very happy for me to go on this journey. I feel comforted in the fact that I am travelling with Neil Zeller Photo Tours. This means that Neil planned all the details, worked out all the logistics and has communicated all relevant information with amazing detail to the group. We have had a WhatsApp Group chat going for months now. It has acted like a highly personalized TripAdvisor or CruiseCritic group where you can ask the question and know that Neil will answer it fully and accurately. For example, just now, Neil sent out the reminder on the group chat, that this morning we should take our first malaria pill with breakfast! So I just made breakfast and fished out my malaria pills from my carry on and will take as directed! We will now take malaria pills every day on the trip and for seven days after we return home.
I am jumping ahead a bit, but I will share this map that Neil created to give you a sneak peak of where we are going (since you know if might have malaria)! The country is Tanzania and we are going on an African Safari! A Bucket list trip for sure!
